Protectworth was the town’s name when it was first settled in 1769. Renamed to Springfield in 1794, residents have protected this rural, residential community with scenic view. Springfield is home to Gile State Forest, Lake Kolelemook and conservation easements donated to the Ausbon Sargent Land Protection Trust. Wildlife and the watershed thrive as Springfield continues to grow.

Town residents can enjoy the Tom Burke Memorial Skateboard Park, managed by the Springfield Recreation Department.

FALL
The Springfield Town Hall is known for hosting some great frank-and-bean dinners, which usually support a different nonprofit organization.

- Wellhouse Farm Pottery is owned by artist, David Pellerin. He creates both unique and functional high fire porcelain, stoneware and raku pottery.

WHERE TO STAY
The Foxstand is an estate built in the early 1900s by Marcus Munzell, a stockbroker from Bronxville, N.Y. Current owner Sandy Rowse repaired and updated the Adirondack-style estate, revitalizing the property into a retreat for those who preferred a pastoral, private setting for their special events.
