Only one other town in the world has the name Lempster (and that’s in the Netherlands). Here in New Hampshire, Lempster has played a key role in the history of the area, such as an enlistment site for five wars and a thriving stage coach stop on the Boston/Montreal route. A stop at the general store where everyone knows your name and it’s easy to see how this small New England town, located between Newport and Keene on Route 10, has stayed true to its roots.

  • Taste and try before you buy. Not all shops offer this experience, but Silver Mountain Ciders in Lempster does. Follow South Road for about a mile, and you'll be able to learn how hard cider is made here in New Hampshire.

SUMMER
Watch a race at the Jolly Roger Moto-Sports Park on Route 10. Most races are on Saturday nights or Sundays, so mark your calendar for the next motorcycle or ATV race on an old-school scramble track or ramped up flat track.
FALL
The historic 1794 Lempster Meetinghouse is one of the few 18th century NH meetinghouses still surviving, and one of only 13 that still retains much or all of its original appearance. A recent grant is funding its restoration.

The barstools were filled at the lunch counter at Sturgeon’s General Store, located on 764 Route 10. Items are available for eat in or take out.
