New London is a shopping center for the Kearsarge/Lake Sunapee area — Newport Road and Main Street are dotted with unique shops, galleries, clothing and toy stores. But there’s so much more than retail — the town of New London offers a wide range of events and activities throughout the year.

- We love checking out the racks at Morgan Hill Bookstore. You'll always find the latest hardcovers, what's new in paperback, and a fun children's section.
- By Emily B carries a unique collection of handcrafted jewelry, stationery, candles and décor.
- You could almost eat lunch at Gourmet Garden: cheese, maple syrup, fudge, dips and mixes, chips, many locally made, can be found throughout the shop.

FALL
Tucked behind Spring Ledge Farm on Main Street, you might be surprised to find 3 acres of corn maze with a mile of paths. The maze is open daily during regular business hours, but once you purchase your ticket at the farm stand, you can stay in the corn maze even after the farm stand is closed. (For instance, if you arrive on Sunday at 3 and buy your tickets, you can enjoy the corn maze until dark!) Ticket prices are $3; children 3 and under are free.
WINTER Improve your overall fitness, boost your self-esteem, and have fun doing it – on your own or with your whole family. The New London Recreation Department offers Shotokan Karate classes Tuesday night at the town hall from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. for ages 7 to adult, and for adults only from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. The cost is $40 per month, but family discounts also are available.

The view is lovely and the renovations are divine. And that’s even before you’ve sat down to enjoy a meal at Traditions at the Lake Sunapee Country Club. You don’t have to be a member to dine, so you can leave the plaid pants at home.
